Long Title | The purpose of this Bill is to reactivate the surcharge provisions of the Employers Indemnity Supplementation Fund to cover outstanding claims resultant from HIH Insurance Ltd, an approved workers' compensation insurer, being placed into provisional liquidation. The Employers' Indemnity Supplementation Fund Act was established in 1980 to cover the cost to employers and injured employees when an insurer approved under the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act went into liquidation. The original levy was 1% which applied from 1980 until 1986 when it was discontinued. |
