The purpose of this Bill is, in conjunction with the Native Title (State Provisions) Bill 1998 and the Titles Validation Amendment Bill 1998, to establish a Western Australian regime to deal with native title issues. This Bill amends Part 9 of the Land Administration Act 1997 dealing with the taking of interests in land, and makes other amendments to this Act which have been identified as being necessary to improve the procedures for dealing with native title and Aboriginal land issues. |
