Bill
National Crime Authority (State Provisions) Amendment Bill 2002
Bill No.
102
Long Title
The purpose of this Bill is to amend the National Crime Authority (State Provisions) Act 1985 so that it more closely reflects the National Crime Authority Act 1984 of the Commonwealth. The primary aim of the Bill is to enhance the effectiveness of the National Crime Authority (NCA) in combating organised crime. This will be achieved principally through the provision of greater penalties for failing to answer a question at a NCA hearing; the removal of the defence "without reasonable excuse"; and the removal of derived-use immunity.
