Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 121 asked in the Legislative Council on 27 February 2014 by Hon Lynn Maclaren

Parliament: 39 Session: 1

PUBLIC HOUSING — EVICTIONS

121. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the minister representing the Minister for Housing:

(1) Since July 2011, how many evictions from public housing have there been of —

(a) children;

(b) Aboriginal children;

(c) people with disabilities; and

(d) women seeking to escape violent former partners?

(2) For each in (1), how many have been provided with support to re-enter public housing?

(3) For each in (1), how many have been provided with support to enter the private rental market?

(4) For each in (1), how many have been subsequently housed in public housing?

Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN replied:

Once again, I represent the Minister for Agriculture and Food who, in turn, represents the Minister for Housing. On their behalf, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(4) The Department of Housing does not keep information that could readily provide answers to the member's questions. The department has a memorandum of understanding and works closely with the Department for Child Protection and Family Support in relation to families that are at risk of termination, but does not track tenants post-tenancy.
