KULUNGA ABORIGINAL KINDERGARTEN
649. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the
Minister for Education:
(1) For how long has Kulunga Aboriginal Kindergarten been in
operation?
(2) When will the operation of Kulunga Aboriginal
Kindergarten cease?
(3) What services did Kulunga Aboriginal Kindergarten offer?
(4) Why has
the funding to Kulunga Aboriginal Kindergarten from the Department of Education
been cut?
Hon
PETER COLLIER replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1)–(4)
To ask a question without notice, when I have been given two minutes'
notice, about for how long Kulunga Aboriginal Kindergarten has been in
operation and when it will cease, given we have 28 Aboriginal kindergartens in
this state, is a bit rich, with all due respect. I can get the specific details
for the member.
Hon Lynn MacLaren: It is the Hilton one that has been
in the news by the member for Willagee.
Hon PETER COLLIER: I am aware of where it is, and I am
aware of the kindergarten, as I said. But to ask for how long it has been
operation, I have absolutely no idea, and I do not think the member could
expect me to. There are 28 Aboriginal kindergartens in this state, and I can
get those details for the member. There has been a shift in funding for all
kindergartens and schools, primary and secondary, over the last six weeks,
which has been a component of much public debate. Kulunga is no different from
any other kindergarten or educational facility. With regard to when Kulunga
opened and that sort of detail, I would need to give the member that
information at a later date.
