PUBLIC TRANSPORT 20-YEAR PLAN


299. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I understand that the public transport 20-year plan has been with cabinet since at least early March.

(1) When did the public transport 20-year plan go to cabinet?

(2) When will the plan be released?

(3) What is the cause for the delay?

(4) Will the minister table the plan now?

Hon Ken Travers: He’s got a copy, so he’ll be about to table it!

Hon SIMON O’BRIEN replied:

I think the member will want a bit more than that!

I thank the honourable member for notice of the question. As a preamble to my response, I point out that it is the long-established custom—and practice, of course—that ministers do not reveal what matters are before cabinet. That is a long-established principle. Bearing that in mind, the answer provided by the minister is —

(1)–(4) The public transport network plan is currently being considered by the government and will be released when appropriate.
