Question Directed to the: Parliamentary Secretary representing the Minister for Transport
Parliament: 39 Session: 1
Question
(1) Is the
Department of Transport continuing to retain land for the purpose of a railway
line in Busselton?
(2) If an ambulance
centre in Busselton were to be constructed on the rail
reserve, how will this effect planning for a Bunbury to Busselton rail
line?
(3) Will the Government continue to
obtain corridors of land for a future Geraldton to Busselton rail
service?
Answered on 13 August 2014
(1) The Public Transport Authority (PTA) will continue to retain relevant portions of the land enacted under The Boyanup - Busselton Railway Act 1892, No 2 of 1892.
(2) This would depend on the location of the proposed ambulance centre.
(3) As the PTA has not identified the need for a railway service between these centres, and in the absence of a compelling need supported by a strong business case, there are no plans to acquire land for this purpose.
