Question Directed to the: Parliamentary Secretary representing the Minister for Housing
Parliament: 39 Session: 1
Question
I refer to question on notice No. 1235, regarding the proportion of Aboriginal people who have been affected by evictions under the Disruptive Behaviour Management Strategy, and I ask, in answer to the question the Minister advised "Based on self-identification by the tenant, 66 per cent of these tenancies had Aboriginal people in the household." What is that percentage for the most recent available date?
Answered on 8 September 2016
The Housing Authority advises that in the 2015-16 financial year 53 tenancies were evicted by bailiff under the Disruptive Behaviour Management Policy and/or the Illegal Use of Premises Policy. Based on self-identification by the tenant, 51% of tenancies had Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people in the household.
