SOUTH EAST
REGIONAL CENTRE FOR URBAN LANDCARE — FUNDING
624. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
I refer to the
letter dated 4 July 2012 from the Western Australian Planning Commission to the
South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare advising that no further funding
will be made available after 2012–13 to supervise the management of the
Beckenham regional open space.
(1) Why is this
funding being withdrawn?
(2) Who will manage
this land if SERCUL is not funded to do so?
Hon
HELEN MORTON replied:
I thank the member
for some notice of this question.
(1) The South East Regional Centre for Urban
Landcare has been generously funded by the Western Australian Planning
Commission for many years. The Executive, Finance and Property Committee of the
Western Australian Planning Commission resolved to end this arrangement at the
end of 2012–13 in order to normalise its support for the South East
Regional Centre for Urban Landcare. The Western Australian Planning Commission
will continue to support the South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare by
providing it with leased premises at a peppercorn rate.
(2) The Department of Planning will manage
the Beckenham open space on behalf of the Western Australian Planning
Commission, as the department manages other public open space owned by the
Western Australian Planning Commission.
