Answered on 6 May 2015

The Minister for Environment has provided the following response.

The tables presented in response to questions (a), (b) and (d) show information concerning burns that are costed to one of the Department of Parks and Wildlife's financial program accounts. An individual burn can address a number of burn objectives that contribute to the outcomes of several financial programs. A burn is charged to the program that is the greatest beneficiary of that burn. These financial programs correlate with information presented in the appendix of the Department of Parks and Wildlife 2013-14 Yearbook showing prescribed burn summary data:

- 04 Recoupable projects - burns undertaken for other agencies (Department of Defence for burning at Bindoon Army Training Area);

- 24  Nature Conservation is equivalent to 'biodiversity conservation';

- 32  Parks and Visitor Services is equivalent to 'tourism and recreation protection';

- 41  Community Protection is equivalent to 'community/strategic protection';

- 42  Native Forest is equivalent to 'hardwood silviculture';

- 43  Plantations is equivalent to 'plantation silvicultural protection'.

(a) See explanation above. [See Tabled Paper No. #].

(b) See explanation above. [See Tabled Paper No. #].

(c)  See explanation above. In the 2014-15 financial year to date treatment has been completed on 7 475 hectares of forest under burn program allocation 42 - Native Forest.

(d) See explanation above. [See Tabled Paper No. #].
