95. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the
minister representing the Minister for Lands:
I refer to the proposed Mangles Bay
canal estate and marina:
(1) Is there a legally binding
agreement to build the marina?
(2) If no to (l), why not?
(3) If yes to (1), please give
details.
(4) Has LandCorp conducted or
commissioned any research to support the claim on its website that the project
will create significant local employment?
(5) If yes to (4), please table this
evidence.
Hon COL HOLT replied:
On behalf of the Minister for Lands,
I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) No.
(2) There are no planning approvals
in place to allow the marina to be built at this time.
(3) Not applicable
(4) Yes.
(5) The Mangles
Bay economic study forms part of the proposed local structure plan for the
Mangles Bay marina–based tourist precinct that was lodged with the City
of Rockingham in May 2015. As such it forms part of a statutory process. The
protocol is for the city to release the plan as part of its public advertising
process expected to occur in early 2016.
