      866. Hon DIANE EVERS to the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the inquiry into gas fracking established by the McGowan government.
      (1) Does the fracking inquiry have a dedicated budget; and, if yes, how much funding, in dollars, has been allocated?
(2) If no to (1), what other resources have been provided to the inquiry to undertake its work?
      (3) If the inquiry uses input from existing public servants, will the minister please list the staffers' qualifications and the agencies from which each one will be drawn?
      (4) Were any government agencies involved in the drafting of the background and issues paper released by the inquiry?
(5) If yes to (4), will the minister please list all the agencies involved and in what capacity?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) Yes. The sum of $591 000 has been allocated.
(2) Not applicable.
      (3) The panel will draw upon agencies on an as-needs basis and provide independent quality assurance and interpretation of the information. The staff potentially assisting the inquiry will have diverse experience and qualifications.
