Answered on 11 September 2012

(1) The Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) has identified approximately 16,000 hectares of potential habitat in mainly coastal vegetation from Binningup in the south to as far north as Kalbarri. Approximately 1,900 hectares of graceful sun-moth habitat has been confirmed by survey, mainly in the Perth region. Work is being undertaken by DEC to confirm other habitat areas.

(2) Based on currently available information, DEC has estimated that over the next 10 to 20 years, approximately 625 hectares of known graceful sun-moth habitat may be cleared for development.

(3) [see tabled paper no] for a list of known graceful sun-moth locations that may be impacted by development within the next 10 to 20 years.
