Question

(1) When will the Department of Transport be dredging the Ocean Reef marina in view of recent reports of dangers to small craft entering and leaving the marina?
(2) What amount has been budgeted for this work?
(3) Will the costs be shared with any other agencies or bodies?
(4) If yes to (3), which agencies or bodies?
(5) Since the handing over of this marina by the developer, how many times has it been dredged?
(6) What has been the total cost of this dredging?
(7) Was there any agreement with the developer for them to meet the costs?
(8) If no to (7), why not?
(9) Is the infrastructure at Ocean Reef marina insured against storm damage and storm surge?
(10) If yes to (9), who pays the premiums?
(11) What are the insurance premium costs for the current year?

(1) Dredging is scheduled to commence in November 2014.

(2) $280 000.

(3) No.

(4) Not applicable

(5) By agreement with the City of Joondalup the entrance has been dredged by the Department of Transport 22 times since 1982.

(6)  The total cost of dredging from 2001 to 2013 was $1.4m. Prior to 2001, accurate financial records are not readily available.

(7) The facility was built by Government.

(8) Not applicable

(9-11) This is a matter for the City of Joondalup.
