Answered on 10 September 2013

(1) Old Timber towns that have possible heritage value and are the property of a Government agency are subject to the Government Property Disposal Process.

(2) Yes.

(3) No.

(4) There has been no action by the Department of Parks and Wildlife in relation to the disposal of old timber towns that triggered the Government Property Disposal process requiring an archaeologist's report.

(5) A consideration of built heritage values is standard operating procedure for any DPaW operation that might disturb such values. Human heritage includes indigenous heritage values that are also subject to consideration under DPaW's standard operating procedures. Consideration of these values may comprise a range of actions from a desktop review, the checking of registers, databases, historic records, historical societies, liaison with local governments, site inspections, consulting relevant indigenous groups and native title holders where applicable. When necessary archaeologists will be engaged and reports provided.

(6) Yes. Two reports for the south-west region on indigenous heritage, namely (1) Warner Glen and Sues Bridge recreation sites (2) Lower Collie Valley and Honeymoon Pool area [see tabled paper no].

(7) Not applicable.
