Parliamentary Questions

Question On Notice No. 1979 asked in the Legislative Council on 4 March 2010 by Hon Lynn Maclaren

Question Directed to the: Minister for Transport
Parliament: 38 Session: 1

Question
Further to question on notice No.1268, in which the Minister for Environment suggested the following question be referred to the Minister for Transport, there are approximately 1 780 hectares of remnant vegetation in Beeliar Regional Park. A significant proportion of this has been confirmed by the Minister for Environment as, ‘suitable vegetation’, that is, included in the mapping of potential Carnaby's black cockatoo habitat. How much of this bushland is currently threatened by the proposed Roe 8 extension?
Answered on 20 April 2010

It is not possible to advise at this stage how much black cockatoo habitat will be affected by the Roe Highway Extension. The extent and location of suitable black cockatoo habitat has been mapped but the design of the highway - and therefore the cleared area - will not be finalised until the community engagement process, which is currently underway, is complete.
