Question On Notice No. 938 asked in the Legislative Council on 13 March 2014 by Hon Lynn Maclaren

Question Directed to the: Minister for Mental Health representing the Minister for Environment
Parliament: 39 Session: 1

Question

With reference to question on notice No. 689, answered on 13 March 2014, what is the Department of Parks and Wildlife doing to remove from the forest floor the leftover tinder-dry debris from Jarrah saw-logging that occurred in 2010 at Ashendon coupe 2?

Answered on 8 April 2014

The Minister for Environment provided the following response:

The 02 coupe in Ashendon forest block includes areas subject to timber harvesting in 2008 and 2012-13. Public firewood collection has occurred in the area harvested in 2008 and the suitability of the 2012-13 harvest area for public firewood collection will be assessed. A prescribed burn for the coupe will be scheduled for future years.
