Construction
of the Eastern Wing commenced in 1958. The first stage
was completed and occupied in 1961, with the official
opening of the completed building in March 1964.
The
photograph on the left shows construction of the first
stage on the south-eastern side of the building.

Southern
extension of Parliament House. Designed
and constructed by the Public Works Department.
Site
works commenced in late 1977 on the construction of 2 levels
on the southern wing of the building allowing for 12 new offices
for Members.
