About the Talk and Tour program

Talk and Tour is a special tour program for community groups interested in learning more about the Western Australian Parliament and its history.

The program runs for 90 minutes, including a 30-minute talk, 15-minute light morning tea and a 45-minute tour of Parliament House. The tour provides fascinating insights into how Parliament works, the Westminster parliamentary system, building history, architecture and other design features.

Cost

There is a small cost of $10 per person to cover morning tea and includes a memento pin. This money will need to be collected from the group and paid at Parliament’s reception prior to the tour commencing.

Group size

Limited to 25 persons. Please note that this tour program is in high demand so it is advisable to book as soon as possible.

Overview

This engaging information session, presented by a Parliamentary Educator, will cover the history and functions of the Parliament of Western Australia. Guests will hear about some of the significant ‘firsts’ that have taken place in the Western Australian Parliament, a number of which were women in Parliament. Some of the more unusual and quirky stories about Parliament House will also be shared.

Along with learning more about the Parliament House building, its history, architecture and how laws are made, information about our extensive art collection will be explored.

Available dates

During 2024, all Talk and Tours will be held on the fourth Monday and Friday of each month.

The session times are 10:15 am to 11:45 am.
