Legislative Council Committee Office

The Legislative Council Committee Office is located on the ground floor. The path leading to the automated doors to the building is relatively flat. The entry foyer is tiled.

The Committee Office reception is located to the left and the Committee Meeting Rooms to the right of the entry foyer. There is secure access to the Committee Office Reception area and Committee Meeting Rooms which can be accessed via the relevant intercom on the wall or by telephoning +61 (08) 9222 7300. The entry foyer to the Committee Meeting Rooms is tiled and the meeting rooms have patterned carpet.

All meeting rooms accommodate wheelchair access. Committee Meeting Room one is fitted with a Hearing Assistance System.

An accessible toilet is available on the ground floor foyer of the building. You will require a pass from reception to enter and may require assistance from staff to navigate the fire door leading to the toilet.

Legislative Assembly Committee Office

The Legislative Assembly Committee Office is located on the first floor. Access from Visitors Parking (see parking information below) to the automated doors to the building is relatively flat.

If you use pedestrian access from Harvest Terrace and Hay Street you will encounter a significant incline which could be difficult to navigate if you have mobility issues or are a wheelchair user.

The foyer of the building is tiled. Elevators will take you to the first floor foyer. These elevators are narrow, being 1100mm wide x 2050 deep. The foyer is timber and a reception desk separates you from the waiting area. You can either press the doorbell on the reception desk or call the receptionist on +61 (08) 9222 7494.

The floor of the waiting area is timber with a large rug covering a section housing lounge chairs.

The hallways and meeting rooms are carpeted. All meeting rooms are wheelchair accessible. Committee Room two is fitted with a hearing loop.

There is an accessible toilet on the floor of the building, however, you may require assistance from staff to navigate the manual door leading to the toilet area.

Taxis and car parking

Perth Taxi companies have wheelchair accessible vehicles.

For the Legislative Council Committee Office you can alight directly outside the building on Parliament Place. It is recommended given the incline to the Legislative Assembly Committee Office that you be dropped off within the carpark area adjacent to the building. For your safety, please be aware that the entry laneway to the carpark also services the underground carpark of the building to the rear of 11 Harvest Terrace.

To access accessible (disabled) parking at the Legislative Council, please contact the Reception Desk on +61 (08) 9222 7300. Accessible parking is provided by the building managers and is contingent on availability.

The Legislative Assembly Committee Office has designated visitors parking bays adjacent to the building. Parking can be reserved by contacting the Reception Desk on +61 (08) 9222 7494. Please advise Reception if you have mobility issues so the most appropriate bay for egress and access from your vehicle can be booked for you. Please be advised that there are limited bays.

Public transport

The free Red CAT route stops at Parliament House (stop 15). These buses are easily accessible with kneeling actions, a driver activated entry ramp and low floor. Please note however that there is a significant incline up Harvest Terrace from the Parliament House bus stop to both the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly Committee Offices.

The Green Cat and number 935 bus stops on Malcolm Street, however this is a busy road to negotiate with significant inclines and declines to both Committee Offices and no cross walk on Malcolm Street. The incline and decline is greater for the Legislative Assembly Committee Office.
