The purpose of the Bill is to prohibit discrimination on the basis of an individual’s sexuality, assumed sexuality or transgender identity by inserting new definitions and parts into the Equal Opportunity Act 1994. The Bill specifically addresses the following areas: work provisions, education, goods, services and facilities; accommodation, clubs and incorporated associations, discrimination in sport, land and other areas. The Bill amends the Criminal Code in respect of equalising the age of consent for gay men. The Bill also repeals the Law Reform (Decriminalization of Sodomy) Act 1989. |
