The purpose of this Bill is to allow the reassignment of gender and establish a Gender Reassignment Board with power to issue recognition certificates; to make consequential amendments to the Constitution Acts Amendment Act 1899 and the Registration of Births, Death and Marriages Act 1961; to amend the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 to promote equality of opportunity, and provide remedies in respect of discrimination, on gender history grounds in certain cases. |
