Electoral Legislation Amendment Bill 2006

Long Title The main purpose of this Bill is the introduction of public funding of candidates and parties and minimum thresholds for election funding and return of deposits. Other provisions include the clarification of the qualifications for nominating as a candidate, modification of the counting method for the Legislative Council, removal of prisoner voting rights, simplified early voting procedures, increased provisions for the privacy of electoral information, changes to the definition of "small party" status, and other general provisions that improve electoral administration. This Bill was created when the Electoral Legislation Amendment Bill 2006 (158) was divided into three in the Legislative Assembly on 14 September 2006. Status Assented to
Royal Assent given 8 Dec 2006 as Act No. 64 of 2006. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
