| Synopsis | The Fines Legislation Amendment Bill will amend the Fines, Penalties and Infringement Notices Enforcement Act 1994, the Sentence Administration Act 2003. The amendments will increase the level of flexibility of fines enforcement to assist people to pay fines whilst maintaining the integrity of the fine as a sentence. As a result, there will be a reduction in the number of people imprisoned for fine default only. |
